Matt Garza: What Irritated Elbow Nerve?
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Wed, 07/02/2008 - 03:12Looked great vs. the BoSox today, although I swear he still throws 90% fastballs.
David Price: Movin' on up
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Fri, 06/27/2008 - 04:33Not dominant, 6 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 7 Ks; but he threw a good number of pitches and his arm didn't fall off. With the college stats this guy put up, plus reports of 99+ mph in spring training, so long as he stays healthy, he's your #1 prospect and it's not close.
Cole Hamels in the Low 90s (filler)
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Tue, 06/17/2008 - 02:07I'll be honest- I didn't even see a 94, but I assume in the other innings (I just watched one), he hit it.
Just building up the backlog of quality content ...
Never Compare Kobe to Jordan Again, Ever
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Fri, 06/13/2008 - 03:55Honestly, I prefer (personally) Paul Pierce to Kobe Bryant. He showed tonight that in a one-on-one skill contest, they're equals. Watching Kobe and his endless run-to-the-basket-and-go-up-on-one-leg-and-either-shoot-or-pass-deciding-in-the-air, compared to Pierce's solid moves to the goal, I can't help thinking, Yep, that's the difference between a guy who learned at Kansas and a guy who quit worrying about fundamentals at the age of 18.
Phil Hughes: The Least Intimidating Blogger Ever
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Wed, 06/11/2008 - 16:03I'm not sure how I feel about a player of mine writing, "haha. Talk to you later." Would Schilling do that on www.38pitches.com? Somehow I doubt it ... he sticks to self-righteous huffing and puffing, which at least makes me think think he'll get pissed off when the Blue Jays knock him around for 8 runs in 2.1 IP.
After reading Hughes, I feel like he's liable to spend the rest of his evening texting his BFFs in High A ball.
Feeding the David Price Hype Machine (in case I need to trade him)
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Wed, 06/04/2008 - 16:15flimsy, yeah, I'm just trying to keep things from drying up too much.
Clash of the (High A) Titans
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Wed, 05/28/2008 - 16:53Tonight: Vero Beach v. St. Lucie, David Price v. Pedro Martinez. Fire up your MILB audiocast players.
My prediction: Price 6 IP, 12 Ks, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB. Pedro 5 IP, 6 Ks ... ah, who really cares? Pedro's an old man.
Bartolo Colon: The Fat Man is Back!
Submitted by Rogers Reilly on Tue, 05/27/2008 - 03:36Looks like he's almost all the way back; Felix Hernandez was topping out at 97 on the same gun, and he's the hardest thrower (among starters) in baseball.

I respect the way this guy pulls a monitor out of a cubicle ...
