Pence
Given that most of us live a different life-style than the professional athlete. Granted that many of the injuries and ailments you hear about in professional sports probably aren't exactly what we are told they are. I recall hearing what may be an urban legend (so to speak) about a Carleton Fisk DL stint that was listed as an ankle injury or something similar. The story I heard was that when he popped up out of his catching stance, one of his testicles got crushed (to some degree) by the edge of his cup. But I digress. My point on Pence is that there seem to be a suspiciously high percentage of athletes who:
a) get food poisoning. I don't think I've ever had food poisoning and I'm pretty sure the pro athlete eats at better restaurants than I do. I suspect food poisoning = severe hangover.
b) have glass related injuries. I've heard of players falling through glass doors, accidentally walking into glass doors they didn't know were there/closed (Pence), gripping a glass too hard so that is shatters, accidentally putting their hand through a window. Why can't pro athletes get the hang of glass? Sure, many people believe that glass is technically a liquid, but most of us figure it out by the age of 6.
c) have flu-like symptoms. Is it the flu or not? How sick are you? I don't ever remember having the balls to tell a coach of mine that, "I wasn't feeling well" and then ask to sit out. I suspect that flu-like symptoms = severe hangover.
Just a few off the top of my head. Feel free to tack onto the list.
